He Hasn't Answered YET?
photo

There is a time in every believer's life that we stop and think "wait a minute, I've been praying for______________ a long time and still God hasn't answered. So that must mean He doesn't want me to have it." That seems to be a reasonable conclusion but I'm not sure that it's the correct conclusion. It may well be that God doesn't want us to have what we are praying for, knowing the harm it will do to us or others but it also could be that God wants us to surrender our will to His. The hardest thing of anyone to do is to give in. I am a very competitive person, I really hate to lose at anything so for me to let go of what I want is a difficult process. Over the years I have come to realize that there are times when God isn't saying no to my prayers but saying let go of my desires. It's not that my prayers have been selfish or even outside of God's will but rather they have been about "this is what I want more than pleasing God." We are taught that God always answers our prayers but sometimes we don't accept the no answer. Perhaps, but again is it really more about us learning that we don't have to win but we do have to let go? May be winning doesn't factor in at all. May be it's what we truly believe to be right and the will of God so be become blind to the truth that God wants us to have things in His time so that we will be spiritually equipped to handle the responsibility that comes with His blessings. When God grants us favor, there is a responsibility that comes with it are we ready to handle that responsibility? There is no doubt that the gifts of God are given freely as are His blessings but are we willing to let go to that point of total surrender that we will give our all just for His will to be done? A reasonable conclusion from our perspective doesn't make it the proper conclusion. That can only be found when we let go to the will of God.

GOALS
At times life seems to wear us down. We do everything that we can to accomplish our goals only to discover we haven't come close to reaching them. When that happens we are not merely disappointed but we can become so discouraged that we lash out at someone to blame. That someone is usually God. We feel that we've been given the "short end of the stick" and that's God's fault. We never stop to consider that because our goals are not in line with the will of God we are doomed to fail in accomplishing them. There is nothing wrong with having goals, in fact we all should have goals but our goals must be on the condition that God is pleased with our choices. If we are honest then we have to confess that when it comes OUR life goals we rarely consider the will of God we look to what we believe will make us happy. Unfortunately, we really don't know what that is! We think that we do but we really are quite content to settle for the less of the world rather than the more of God. I may have mentioned this before but it is worth repeating. In my office I have a saying that I use to remind myself of need to seek the will of God for my goals rather than my own goals. The saying is: "when it comes to the things of God most do not arrogantly aspire for too much but sheepishly settle for too little." Our own goals are the too little and having the will of God as our goals is aspiring for the much. Regardless of our age, we should aspire to the highest of goals - the will of God. It is there that we will find our peace, joy, fulfillment in life and that will finally result in our accomplishing our goals.

Memories for September 11, 2007
Has it really been six years? It remains fresh in my mind - that day - 9/11/01 when all America stood still in shock and dismay. September 11, 2001 has passed we have picked up the pieces and carried on with our lives, as it must be done. Spiritually we all encounter a 9/11 experience. It's that moment when the presence of God is so clearly revealed to us that we stand in shock and dismay at the truth that there really is a God. Unfortunately, we often continue our lives as if it is best that we forget it ever happened. After all to believe that God is means that we must give an account to God and since we don't measure up to His standards we would rather pretend He doesn't exist at all. That sense of shock and dismay is soon covered by the "nah, it couldn't be" perception. That's the attitude that says "God loves me too much to send me to hell" or "only fools believe in that junk" or "if there was a God why would He allow such terrible things to happen." I know the answer to each of these questions! 1. God doesn't send us to hell, we send ourselves by our choice of behavior and our choice not to believe and accept the sacrifice of His Son Jesus. Justice demand payment for sin and unless we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, justice demands we pay the price by forfeiting eternal life for eternal damnation. 2. "The fool has said in his heart there is no God" (Ps 14:1). Saying the sky is green doesn't make it green and saying that God isn't doesn't make Him disappear. 3. We cannot blame God for the condition of this world. He gave us a perfect world a we chose to allow sin to ruin it for us. Life is full of tragic moments but not because God ordained them to be so Professing ourselves to be wise we began as fools and destroyed the perfection God gave us custody over. You may ask 'what has an innocent baby done to deserve abuse?' NOTHING! Yet that innocent child pays for what we have allowed ourselves to become. You may ask 'what about the horrible diseases in the world?' We mess up the environment and commit acts against God is there any wonder disease rates are growing? God allows things to happen because we have set the stage for those things to happen, not God. This 9/11 make it a point to see the presence of God in your life and walk in the new day He places before you.

Entry for August 21, 2007

The need to believe in something greater than ourselves is embedded into each of us. No one wants to believe that "this is all there is" even if they refuse to believe in God. Recently, an individual attacked five of the Living Saved videos. One was an introduction to the Living Saved with Rev. Kerrene program and the other were attacks against the L.I.F.E. series videos. The individual said some pretty rough things and basically called "god loving people" (his or her words) arrogant and greedy for thinking themselves worthy of eternal life. For each of the videos the comment was the exact same and seem to reflect contempt for the children of God. My heart was broken not because of the slam for the L.I.F.E. series videos but for this misguided lost person who found it easier to run from God than to face the Truth. Here is someone in desperate need of prayer and afraid to to ask. I am not one who needs or seeks validation for my ministry because I know what I do belongs to God and I deserve no credit, but if I did this person provided me with that validation. It took a great deal of time for this person to view all of those videos and I believe his/her anger was kindled because the Holy Spirit spoke very loud and very clear to that person. Whereas Living Saved with Rev. Kerrene is for assisting the people of God in learning how to live saved in this world, God has been using it to bring those who are unaware of their need for Him in their lives and those who are trying to run from the Holy Spirit who has been working on them. It's not my place to tell God how to direct His work, it's my place to go with Him wherever He leads me. 3 Star Jimmy and I made a commitment not just to each other to carry this ministry out until God chose to end it but we made that same commitment to God. We trust each other to hold up our end of the agreement to God more than to each other and that's the way it should be. We cannot put our hand to the plow and look back we must continue to move forward in the direction God has set us in until He says "no more". As we follow the leading of God, come with us! The journey is unknown but the trail is blazed by God so you know it will be enlightening and adventurous. I can't be what God wants me to be unless you are what God wants you to be...we are in this together so let's give the enemy all he can handle and more than he wants to handle.
